Album Notes
Born and raised in Ghana, Kwame Wood’s “Ancestors” pays homage to history and its relevance today. His lustrous and charming voice transitions from rag-time to avant garde rhythms — evidence of his apprenticeship under High-Life king CK Mann, Stanley Turrentine, Miatta Fahnbuleh and George Darko.
He has spent the past 25 years in America, honing his craft with his house bands Culture Shock and the Ananse Band. His second album, “Ananse Stories,” released in 2010 and he is working on a new release “True Experience.”
